Give Thanks (“the App,” “we,” “us”) helps you write a daily gratitude entry before your distracting apps unlock. The App is local-first: your data stays on your device unless you choose to create an account, which securely backs up your journal so it can follow you to another device. This policy explains what is collected and how it is used.

Information stored on your device

Unless you create an account (see below), the following stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:

• Gratitude entries you write, and your daily streak — stored on your device, and additionally backed up to our server only if you create an account (see “When you create an account”).
• App selections for blocking. Which apps you choose to shield are managed on-device through Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework. This information is handled by iOS and is never visible to us, whether or not you have an account.
• Sign in with Apple identifier. If you sign in with Apple, we store the identifier (and your name, if you choose to share it) locally to recognize you. Apple manages the authentication, and you may hide your email address via Apple's Private Relay.
• Reminder preferences for the optional local notification.

When you create an account

Signing in is optional. If you create an account with your email address or with Google, we use Supabase to provide authentication and to back up your journal:

• Account details. Your email address (and, for Google, your basic profile) and an encrypted password are stored by Supabase so you can sign in across devices. We use these only to authenticate you.
• Your gratitude entries. Once signed in, the entries you write are synced to Supabase so they are backed up and available on your other devices. Each entry is tied to your account and protected by row-level security, so only you can access your entries.
• Deletion. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your account and its synced entries from our server.

Subscriptions

Give Thanks is free to download. Optional donation subscriptions that support the App are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information from Apple and assigns an anonymous app-user identifier to determine whether your subscription is active. We never receive your credit card number or full Apple ID details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

Understanding our audience

When you finish onboarding, the answers you provide (your goals, gratitude practice, how often you give thanks, average screen time, age range, gender, faith tradition, and how you heard about us) are sent to RevenueCat and stored as attributes on your anonymous app-user profile. We use this only in aggregate, to understand who our app serves and which audiences find it helpful. It is tied to a random identifier, not to your name or email. Your faith tradition is optional and is used solely for this purpose.

We also send RevenueCat a few engagement signals — your current streak, total number of entries, days active, and the date you last opened the app — so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. These are counts and dates only; the text of your gratitude entries is never sent. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

What we do not do

Data retention & deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it in the App or remove the App, which erases the associated data. You can also reset your entries and answers from within the App's settings.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
